Artist Statement

My work focuses on storytelling, but it’s fueled by passion. Passion my characters have for life, art, and romance shown as tangible feelings in my works. Through time people have been passionate about many things and I want my art to show my passion for telling stories both old and new.

The mediums I use are intaglio etching process as well as metalsmithing, the processes of hammering and chasing, pierce work, and enameling such as cloisonne and stenciling.

My compositions are loose continuous narrative of relationships through time, implying reincarnation of the characters used, and making snapshots of their individual stories. The exhibition makes up the whole of the narrative, each piece acting as a chapter. They depict the overall story of passion, having depictions of personified passion, and give a sense of cohesiveness to the show. I want my show to have people feel nostalgia for a better or worse time in their lives using my stories to remind them of the relationships they have had before. Just like stories they may not recognize but have heard before.
